Excess: A Knotting Hill Omegaverse Romance (The Knotting Hill Omegaverse) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 319 ratings

Inika has been given everything, and yet happiness has always felt out of her reach.

Blake has worked for everything he has, and happiness has always felt like an optional extra.

It’s meant to be fun. It’s meant to be easy. Itches will be scratched, and no strings will be attached.

All Blake and Inika have to do is not catch feelings. And considering how very different they are, how hard could that be?

The Knotting Hill Omegaverse is a series of tongue-in-cheek standalone omegaverse romances, featuring characters over thirty. Suitable for readers 18+

Colette Rhodes is a paranormal romance author from New Zealand. She loves to write about love in all its forms, and adores imperfect heroes and heroines who find perfection in each other. You’ll often find her trying to justify her degree by including ancient history and mythological influences in her work.

If she’s not writing, then you’re almost certain to find her reading—ideally with a cup of tea in hand and a scented candle burning to match the mood.

Colette is a goddess. I love all of her work. Also for reference I usually like to add a quote in these reviews but my faves were too spicy to post here 😏🫠 I have read A LOT of omegaverse. Like stupid amounts of it but this was different from anything else I’ve read. In the best way. I love these mid-30’s FMC and how settled they become in themselves and who they are. I’m right there with them. The smut was excellent…light degradation which I love. Then just the whole dynamic between Inika and Blake and their family/friends was amazing and so relatable. This was just such a great book. I can’t wait for more from this world.

I absolutely loved the story between these two. The heat between them was a 10/10 and they both had very frustrating hands dealt to them in terms of family situations. Overall it was a pretty sweet story, relatively low on the angst scale.

Very different from the first book, which is not a bad thing. It was a fairly simple read and no unnecessary drama or trauma. Inika and Blake have chemistry but also I wish there was more substance (more interactions outside of sex, more individual world building, etc). They met up twice outside of his job at her house and that was sweet but I thought there could have been more.

To their credits: Inika and Blake are complex characters. We do get that sense through their internal monologues. I did wish that Inika didn't bite her tongue so much with her friends and family but it all worked out well in the end.

I also appreciate that these leads are unrelated to the couple in the first book (a mistake that many an author tend to make) which made it a fresher story (however no one will ever compare to my baby boy Kit).

I'll be curious to read the next installment. Hopefully a bit more dazzling passion and chemistry building?

I absolutely loved Inika and Blake's story. I also love that these are people in their 30s rather than late teens or early 20s. They know what they want even though they're from different worlds. I loved this series

One of my favorite writers. I love this omega verse, and the characters are well written as always. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but still very satisfying.

I love the dynamic between Inika and Blake, but this book just doesn't have the relationship development and depth that Scheme had.

I'm not even a huge fan of unnecessary drama or 3rd act breakup or whatever, but I can't deny feeling like something is missing.

Still good, and it's a nice, quick read, but just lacked something to take it to the next level.

Holy dirty talkin' hawtness! Blake wins an award for his demanding mouth. His chemistry with Inika is off the charts!

There's a lot of bang for the pages here. I read it quickly but felt very satisfied with the character growth and plot.

I love how Inika gave up control in the bedroom to Blake but found her big girl panties when it finally came to how she wanted to live her life outside of it. The way she was made to feel small by her parents and the board at her father's company unless she found and mated an adequate alpha was infuriating. But she emerged ready to stand on her own two feet, hand in hand with the RIGHT alpha for her.

As for Blake, he put his entire life on hold for his family, and they came through for him in the end. Inika fit seamlessly with all of them.

I loved this return to the On The Shelf world! This was a delightful low angst and low stakes read with 2 mid 30s people struggling with different expectations on them and finding relief on each other and I devoured it in one night

loved the first book, loved this one just as much, maybe even a little more?

Some of the scenes had me squealing and kicking my feet, and I loved how unique and fleshed out and genuine Inika and Blake felt, just wish we got more of their story, as I fell in love with it!

I am absolutely loving this series. Give me a mature, well established and fierce omegaverse drama anytime. It is so refreshing to read about someone my age.

While many omegaverse stories rely on passion and hormones alone this story also involved conversations and mutual understanding and respect. You still get that omegaverse romance, but it’s not just pure emotion. There is your stereotypical “rich girl doesn’t quite fit in meets the boy from the wrong side of town” trope and even if it’s been done before if it’s written well you’re going to enjoy it. I couldn’t help roooting for these two characters and their HEA made my heart happy.

I keep thinking that each new series this author releases is going to be my favorite but I feel like I just enjoy them all. This is another one and I can’t wait for the next book.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Excess - or even the On The Shelf series itself.
Colette’s books have always had a lot of heart but this series has been a sweet and spicy stand out to me.
Inika and Blake’s declaration of love caused me to burst into tears - and I can be a bit of a cynic for such an avid romance reader.

Rhodes is one of my all time favourite authors and this book did not disappoint.

It’s a grumpy and a socialite who is chafed by the stands of what she “should” do.

It is super sexy and romantic. 10/10
